Pioneers Advance to Cartwright Cup Monday, October 14th , 2058 The Calgary Pioneers are riding high after winning the Doubleday Series and eliminating the New Orleans Crawdads by a series score of 4-1. The final blow came tonight at The Commanders Palace, when Calgary secured its spot in the Cartwright Cup with a 7-5 victory. "It feels good to put them away because we really didn't want to let them crawl back into this series," said second baseman Bill Irvine, who was named series MVP. "A team like that, you need to bury them when you get the chance." Irvine certainly helped his team's cause, as he hit .611 with a .611 on-base percentage in the series. He also chipped in 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 1 runs. The Calgary Pioneers will play against the Charm City Jimmies in the next round.
