Late Rally by Talons Locks Up 5-3 Win
|
Phoenix Talons starter Nick Rivers pitched a strong game against the Atlantic City Gamblers at The Ballpark at Bally's, leading the Talons to victory, 5-3. The winner in relief was Rob Scott. He is now 3-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Run-ming Zhu picked up the save, his 4th.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Manuel Torres to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Talons on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Torres.
The win puts Phoenix at 30-25 this season.
