Tokyo Wins 2053 GBC Championship by Denny's & Marko Worldwide!
|
The Tokyo Pearls ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers 3-2 to win the GBC Championship by Denny's & Marko Worldwide.
Tokyo won the series 5-4, capturing the title for the 3rd time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Tokyo manager Gaylord Carton. "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 90-73 and claimed second place in the GBC.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and right fielder Adam Neal said the Pearls have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
