New Orleans Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
The New Orleans Crawdads moved to within one game of the Doubleday Series today, downing the visiting Phoenix Talons at The Commanders Palace by a score of 3-2. Crawdads right-hander Steven Flannery had a strong outing in which he threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Crawdads a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Geoghegan Round.

With no one out in the bottom of the third, Colm Alker barreled up a fastball from Jaypee Estancia. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Crawdads in front, 3-0.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Phoenix manager Thad Meyer.

Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Denny's Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented By Subaru in Phoenix.
