The Mexico City Aztecs defeated the Austin Shredders, 3-2, in part because of right fielder Charles Barling. Barling went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs for the Aztecs. José Martínez got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 5.1 innings. Sergio Tormes finished the game for Mexico City and earned his 27th save.

With Mexico City leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Barling hit a fastball from Glenn Hargrove for a 2-run double. It was his 28th double of the season and put the Aztecs ahead, 3-0.

Austin manager David Pinto said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.

The 4th-place Shredders have dropped 4 straight games.
