Blazers Walk It Off for 61st Win of Season
|
The Montreal Blazers gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Montreal Blazers overcame a fine performance by San Antonio third baseman Rhys Cripps to defeat the Outlaws, 8-6, at Ubisoft Field. Cripps was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Aelbehrt Schlöndorff came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-2.
Montreal won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With two outs and Francisco Salgado on the mound for San Antonio, catcher Calvin Johnson hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Blazers fans to their feet.
"Exhilarating win," said Johnson.
Montreal, now 61-38, holds down first place in the Johnson League Atlantic Division.
