Sydney Wins, 4-3, Over Fighting Centaurs
|
The Athens Fighting Centaurs got a sterling performance from pitcher Max Dawe, but the Sydney Sharks still prevailed, 4-3. Dawe threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Sydney pitcher Juan Santana got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Dale Dyke got the loss. After today's action, Sydney sits at 56-59, while Athens falls to 49-66.
The decisive blow was delivered by José Márquez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 31-year old right-handed pitcher Dale Dyke to win the game for Sydney. The home crowd went nuts.
Márquez described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
