Hebrew Hammers Squeeze By Athens, 2-1
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers used a great performance from Ed Noble, who led the GBC in strikeouts with 170 last year, to beat the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 2-1, at The Holy Land. Jerusalem reliever Fernando Camacho was the winner. His record is now 3-4. The losing pitcher was Max Dawe. Jerusalem leads the GBC EurAsia Division by 2 games.
Stephen Lockwood was the walk-off hero for Jerusalem. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Hebrew Hammers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Tough loss," said Athens manager Raoul de Braber. "Tough one to swallow."
