Richard Balgera pitched well, but his team, the Sydney Sharks, still dropped a 4-3 decision to the Tokyo Pearls at Blacktown International Sportspark. Deron Alexander picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 8-11. Picking up the save was Filippio Ioriatti. He's now 14 for 18 in save chances.
Fa-tang Situ, the 33-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Situ contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Tokyo up, 4-0.
In comments to the Tokyo Daily News, Situ admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
Tokyo has a record of 62-65, placing them 5th in the GBC.
