The Twin Cities River Monsters had to overcome a fine performance from Yellow Springs pitcher Cory McGuire to grab a 3-2 win at Land O' Lakes Ballpark. McGuire allowed no runs over 6 innings. The Nine, at 65-97, have lost 6 straight games.

Ed Rooney was the walk-off hero for Twin Cities. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the River Monsters center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Rooney said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
