Both teams had their chances, but the Mexico City Aztecs eventually prevailed.

Mexico City Aztecs starter Vassilis Zorba was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Phoenix Talons, 2-1. Richard Lawrence recorded the save for Mexico City, his 42nd of the season.

Mexico City second baseman Salvador Allende contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 60th hit of the season and put the Aztecs ahead, 2-1.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Phoenix manager Thad Meyer.

With the win, Mexico City goes to 83-78, while the Talons fall to 91-70.
