The Athens Fighting Centaurs had to overcome a fine effort from Sydney pitcher Armando Castro to grab a narrow 5-3 win at Blacktown International Sportspark. Castro went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Earning his 22nd save for Athens was Max Dawe. The Fighting Centaurs now have a mark of 45-65.

Ron Paul had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the seventh for Athens. He came through with a 2-run single to put Athens in front, 3-0.

Paul attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
