Sydney used a superb performance from starting pitcher Bryan Hall to down the Tokyo Pearls, 2-0. In 5 innings, Hall surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 4. He allowed no runs. With the win, Sydney goes to 31-39, while the Pearls fall to 39-32.
Wasim Ala', the 33-year old center fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ala' contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Sydney up, 1-0.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Hall.
