Late Magic Gets Cairo 6-3 Win
|
The Cairo Pharaohs stopped the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 6-3, at Piraeus Park. The Pharaohs got a big game from Dave Butler, who went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 times. Cairo reliever Eric Parker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Esteban Arquiza was saddled with the loss. Todd Walley earned the save, his 16th.
Blair Peyton, the two-time Great Glove Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Peyton contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning to put Cairo up, 3-2.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Peyton.
The third-place Pharaohs are now 32-27, the Fighting Centaurs 23-37.
