Fighting Centaurs Suffer 6-2 Home Defeat
|
The Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers topped the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 6-2, in Global Baseball Consortium action at Piraeus Park. The standout performance belonged to Jerusalem pitcher and Bayamón, Puerto Rico, native Juan Rivas. Rivas got the win, improving to 3-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. The second-place Hebrew Hammers now have a record of 25-21.
Jerusalem used a clutch at-bat from Jaicus Bigornia to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Hebrew Hammers ahead, 5-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Rivas.
