Belinda, Blazers Wallop Jimmies, 13-0
|
Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Charm City fans. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Blazers had to.
The Montreal Blazers had no problem beating the Charm City Jimmies, 13-0, at OLD BAY Park at Camden Yards. James Belinda led the way. He was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Montreal. Todd Schroeder earned the win for Montreal. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4. With the win, he raised his record to 3-2.
With Montreal leading 10-0 in the top of the ninth, Belinda came up to bat against Charm City pitcher António Báldez. Belinda hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season put the Blazers on top, 13-0.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Montreal manager Ernesto Zamora. "Our pregame was pretty good."
The Blazers, at 84-61, lead by one game in their division.
