Fighting Centaurs Drop Pearls, 6-3, with Late Score
|
The Tokyo Pearls got a sterling performance from pitcher Arapeta Ebena, but the Athens Fighting Centaurs still prevailed, 6-3. Ebena threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Max Dawe collected his 7th save. The Fighting Centaurs improve their record to 19-31 with the win over Tokyo.
Elton Warr, the 32-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Warr contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Athens up, 4-3.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Warr told the Athens Daily News.
