Sharks Win by Slim Margin, 6-5
|
The Sydney Sharks downed the Tokyo Pearls, 6-5, at Manama Fields. Sosa Seki led the way, going 2-for-4 for Sydney. The win was credited to Harold Newbold in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Naruhiko Kawano took the loss. The save went to Carlos Rocha, his 6th this season.
Wasim Ala' chipped in for Sydney, stroking a crucial run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning. For the game, the center fielder was 1-2 with a double, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Sharks manager Kang Der. "This one was nice to get."
The Sharks, now 15-25, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
