With 5-4 Win, Pearls Go to 16-15

The Tokyo Pearls beat the Athens Fighting Centaurs, 5-4, at Piraeus Park. Odemar Lock, in particular, was impressive. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Picking up the win was Umar Dogar. He went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 5. The save was credited to Gary Powers, his 10th.
Lock had a timely hit for Tokyo in the top of the sixth. With Athens trailing 4-3, he turned a first pitch knuckle curve into a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Tokyo.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Tokyo manager César Valdéz. "It's usually not just one thing."
With the win, Tokyo is 16-15.
