| Crusaders López Smacks 5 Hits Saturday, December 7th, 2041 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for José López, it came around today.
The 20-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Pilots Ballpark to pace the Vero Beach Crusaders to a 11-10 victory over the Miami Mounties.
Miami skipper Wally Júlio told reporters in the press room that "López deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, López hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
José López singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 10th.
On the year López is hitting .411 with 23 hits, 1 home run, 8 RBIs, .468 OBP and has scored 6 runs.
