BL Top Pitcher Award for August to Cortés Sunday, September 1st , 2058 A reliever is at his best when the game is on the line. The pressure doesn't get to him. Leonardo Cortés of the Long Island Legion is just that kind of pitcher. In August, he was acclaimed the Pitcher of the Month by the Baxter League. Long Island's star reliever held the opposition to a .247 average and put up no saves and 33 strikeouts in 43 innings with a 5-0 mark and a 1.26 ERA.
