5-Hit Game for Mesa Thursday, August 22nd , 2058 No matter what the Tombstone Geckos threw at him today, José Mesa hit it. He easily handled Geckos pitching, going 5 for 7 and helping the Ranchers to a 15-5 triumph at The O.K. Corral. "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview. Told of Mesa's quip, Geckos skipper Carlos Gonzáles said he "would take him up on that next time." José Mesa doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
