2B Chapple Given 4-Game Suspension Monday, August 5th , 2058 Erik Chapple, second baseman for the Redwood City Rocketmen, will be getting a few days off the hard way -- a 4-game suspension for aggressively arguing with an umpire in a recent game with Prince George. After being called out on strikes, Chapple stood toe-to-toe with the home plate umpire and hotly contested the call. Apparently he got too close to the arbiter and was ejected from the game, allegedly making contact with the bill of his cap. "I don't remember billing him. I don't remember doing that," Chapple told BNN today. This season Chapple has banged out 21 hits in 75 at-bats for a .280 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .341 pace and his totals also include 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. |
