Hot Bat Cooled, Atkinson Hitless Against Cavaliers Saturday, June 29th , 2058 The Eau Claire Cavaliers pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Bill Atkinson hitless in 1 at-bat during the club's 4-1 victory over the Dearborn Heights Knights at Carson Park. The disappointing performance ended a 22-game hitting streak for the shortstop. "I'm a little down right now," Atkinson said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too." In 77 games this season Atkinson has batted at a .365 pace with 103 hits and 2 home runs. |
