Ávila, Payne Swap Clubs Monday, May 31st , 2060 Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Pikemen announced today the acquisition of 34-year old LHP Alex Payne from the Charm City Jimmies in exchange for 23-year old minor league RHP Tony Ávila. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Pikemen, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams." Payne has made 11 starts so far this year and put up a 5-3 won-lost record with a 4.07 ERA. In 73 innings he has allowed 71 hits, walked 18 and struck out 54. |
