Thompson Stops Atlantic City
Tuesday, September 10th , 2058
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Nelson Thompson of the Montreal Blazers proved the point at Ubisoft Field today, holding the Atlantic City Gamblers to 6 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Thompson made us look real bad today," Gamblers manager Mike MartÃnez said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Thompson had 4 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Blazers took the 2-0 win.
Up to now Thompson has recorded a record of 13-11. In 30 starts he has fanned 104 batters in 183 innings with a 3.79 ERA.
