Aki Kondo Gets 200th Victory Tuesday, August 9th , 2050 What would you do after you had just won your 200th game? Run around Denny's Paul D. Lunn Memorial Stadium Presented By Subaru doing cartwheels, jumping for joy and waving to the crowd? Well, maybe you and I would do that, but not Aki Kondo -- that's not his way. After he notched number 200, the 36-year-old Phoenix hurler spoke to the press like he always has -- in a soft, quiet voice. He wasn't doing any cartwheels or even anything resembling a jump for joy. "Obviously it feels very good," Kondo commented. "To win this many games, you've got to have a lot of help." Kondo got his milestone victory by beating the Montreal Blazers 4-0. He held them to 7 hits in 6 innings and rung up 4 strikeouts with no walks. After sharing his thoughts with the press, he went to the clubhouse. There he was greeted by the guys who had helped him get #200. His teammates drenched him and then gave him a rousing round of applause. That got to him -- for the first time today, Kondo's face broke into a big smile. In his career Kondo has crafted a 200-159 record with a 4.02 ERA in 3183.1 innings.
