Surfers Lose, 7-1, to Portland
|
The Portland Lumberjacks welcomed the Long Beach Surfers to an night game at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium.
The Portland Lumberjacks rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Mauro Esperanda to a win, beating the Long Beach Surfers, 7-1, at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium. The win puts Portland at 78-57 this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Greg Squires? The Portland right fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Lumberjacks on top, 2-1. For the game, Squires had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Squires said.
