Lowry Shuts Out Gamblers
The Atlantic City Gamblers had no answer today for Brooklyn Robins pitcher Ollie Lowry. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 2-0. Atlantic City managed only 2 hits off Lowry, who had 6 strikeouts.

The extraordinarily popular Lowry got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd.

"Robins fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible."

Presently Lowry has a 9-12 mark in 27 starts with a 5.45 ERA. He has given up 161 hits in 143.2 innings, struck out 167 and issued 46 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .280 batting average against him.
