In a well-pitched game between the Hawaii Tropics and the Portland Lumberjacks, pitcher Elvin Hilliard was superb. The Hawaii left-hander helped his team win, 3-0. Hilliard went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 11-9. Bill Phillips converted his 5th save in 6 tries.

With two out in the bottom of the fifth, Felipe Hernández put Hawaii in front, 3-0, with a 2-run single. The Tropics went on to win the ballgame.

"I give credit to my teammates for this win. We got it done," Hernández told the Hawaii Bulletin.
