Nine Need Extra Innings to Top Bears, 1-0
|
The Yellow Springs Nine picked up a win at Utopia Field, knocking off the San Fernando Bears, 1-0. Starting pitcher Cory McGuire was a big reason why. Yellow Springs reliever Gerald Rogers got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Luis Peña was tagged with the loss. Yellow Springs, at 24-28, occupies 5th place in the Frick League Heartland Division.
The Nine procured the win, in large part because of shortstop Ziya Türkes. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Türkes said.
