The Nashville Bluebirds topped the Long Beach Surfers, 14-1, with designated hitter Majd bin Nawaf playing a big role. bin Nawaf went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6 for the Bluebirds in the win. Steven Clayton got the win, improving to 3-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Glenn Dennis earned the save for Nashville, his 1st.
With Nashville leading 2-0 in the bottom of the second, bin Nawaf hit a fastball from Chris Thompson for a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Bluebirds ahead, 6-0.
In postgame comments to the Nashville Times, bin Nawaf said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win puts Nashville at 36-16 this season.
