Madison Loses, 6-4, Despite Shimizu Performance
|
The Portland Lumberjacks withstood an impressive performance by Madison first baseman Manobu Shimizu to defeat the Wolves, 6-4, at The Trail in Multnomah. Shimizu went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Portland reliever Lewis Norman picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Dani Colomo absorbed the loss. Picking up the save was Renato Lacerda, his 2nd.
Portland took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, designated hitter Alvin Conley hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Conley said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Lumberjacks, at 14-30, sit in last place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
