Smothers Raps Medford for 5 Hits
Pat Smothers was a tough out and went 5-for-6 in a fine hitting display today, but the Medford Mules managed to overcome his performance and top the Hollywood Silver Stars, 8-7.

"I got my pitches and I connected," Smothers said. "They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody, and some days they fall in. And some days you lose, no matter how well you play."

On this occasion, Smothers played well enough to get his name in the record books. Pat Smothers singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, grounded out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.

This year Smothers is hitting .336, produced 21 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 20 times and gotten on base at a .424 rate.
