Conditions were not ideal but Phoenix and San Antonio were able to put their game in the books.

The 9-6 Phoenix win over San Antonio was due in large part to Joseph Mother. The Talons designated hitter went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Huang Cheng, now 2-1, was credited with the win. He allowed 2 runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 3.

Phoenix used the clutch hitting of Shirai Matsumoto to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Talons the lead, 7-6. For the game, Matsumoto had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"We maximized our offense today," said Phoenix skipper Thad Meyer. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The win makes Phoenix 17-18.
