Lumberjacks Beat Bears, 3-1
|
The Portland Lumberjacks topped the San Fernando Bears, 3-1, in Frick League action at The Trail in Multnomah. The standout performance belonged to Portland pitcher and Hsintien, Taiwan, native Eng-hee Kin. Kin got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. Kin allowed 1 run. The Lumberjacks have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 9th win in 28 games.
The Lumberjacks got a big at-bat from left fielder Jim Ashford. For the game, Ashford went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Portland a 3-0 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Ashford.
