The Vancouver Mounties picked up a win at Northwoods Outpost, knocking off the Portland Lumberjacks, 6-4, in 11 innings. Starting pitcher Brian Whitford played a key role in the triumph. The Mounties, now 8-4, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Vancouver got a clutch hit from Vince Guin. The right fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

Vancouver manager Hung-k'uei Cui commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
