Win Streak Now at 8 for Lumberjacks
|
The Portland Lumberjacks beat the Valencia Stars, 2-1, at The Trail in Multnomah. The win was due in part to right fielder Greg Squires, who went 2-2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Murali Patachli, the winning pitcher, improved to 10-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Frank Wilson got the save, his 29th in 37 chances.
The Lumberjacks got a big at-bat from second baseman Edward Roundfield IV. For the game, Roundfield IV was 2 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Portland a 2-1 lead.
"I was a little disappointed," said Valencia manager Omar Sosa. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The wins continue to add up for Portland. The latest makes it 8 in a row.
