Dirk Bessi never let Yellow Springs get something going. The Chicago left-hander commanded his sinker in pitching the Black Sox to a 2-1 win. Bessi, now 5-8, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Mike Baker recorded the save, making him 28 for 33.
One of the key players for the Black Sox was third baseman Kilipaki Iugini, who drilled a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fourth inning. For the game, Iugini went 1-3 with a triple.
"It was a good effort all around," said Iugini.
The 4th-place Black Sox raised their record to 56-58.
