Closing In: Twin Cities Nears CC With Dramatic Game 5 Win
Twin Cities River Monsters designated hitter Alfonso Trinidad was the difference-maker at Land O' Lakes Ballpark today, as he led his club to victory in a pivotal Game 5 of the Doubleday Series. The River Monsters took the 6-3 win over the Sacramento Mad Popes to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Trinidad hit a fastball from Ludwig Werberg for a 3-run home run. The River Monsters, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Twin Cities manager Gerald Brandt.

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough in Sacramento.
