Jimmies, Blazers Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Charm City Now Leads Series 1-0
|
The Charm City Jimmies started the Doubleday Series in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Montreal Blazers in a walk-off in the 11th inning. Charm City took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Héctor Silva. The left-hander threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs in the win, which gave the Jimmies a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Charm City third baseman Asil Çölasan, facing Fernando Villarreal, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Jimmies the 3-2 win.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Ernesto Zamora.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at OLD BAY Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
