The Calgary Pioneers defeated the Rosenblatt Bombers, 7-4, in part because of shortstop José Banda. Banda was 1 for 2 with a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Pioneers. Shinsui Hasegawa, who is tied for 3rd in the JL with a 3.05 ERA, was the winner. He's now 12-6. The loser was Ken Steele. Martín Viera nailed down his 27th save.
Banda contributed in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Calgary get the win.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Calgary manager Bilbo Baggins.
By defeating Rosenblatt, the 6th-place Pioneers improved to 50-58.
