Mounties Take Down River Monsters, 5-4
|
In a close game at Northwoods Outpost, the Vancouver Mounties edged the Twin Cities River Monsters, 5-4. Vancouver designated hitter Raúl Peña stood apart with his performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The 4th-place Mounties are 53-52.
Ramón Moreno was the walk-off hero for Vancouver. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mounties center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Peña.
