5-4 Loss Extends Brooklyn Losing Streak
|
The Mexico City Aztecs knocked off the Brooklyn Robins, 5-4, in Johnson League action at Quetzalcoatl Dome. Mexico City pitcher and Williamstown, Kentucky, native Jason Bergheimer had an outstanding performance. Mexico City reliever José Martínez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. You-cheng Hang was saddled with the loss. The slumping Robins have dropped 6 in a row.
The Robins had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Aztecs going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old first baseman Juan Schorr came to the plate. Schorr hit a bases-clearing double on a 1-1 slider from Brooklyn hurler You-cheng Hang. It was Schorr's 7th double of the year.
"I was a little disappointed," said Brooklyn manager Luis Chávez. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
