Lumberjacks Drop Black Sox, 7-1
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
Chicago had no answer for Portland Lumberjacks hurler Susila Kartosuwiryo, who overwhelmed Black Sox hitters as the Lumberjacks coasted to victory, 7-1. Kartosuwiryo, now 3-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run.
Portland took a 3-1 lead on Alvin Conley's 27th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Chicago pitcher Randolph Marable in the top of the seventh.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Conley told a Portland Observer reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
With the win, Portland goes to 37-60, while the Black Sox fall to 47-50.
