Aztecs Win with Late Heroics
|
The Mexico City Aztecs faced a tenacious opponent in San Antonio pitcher César Franco, but still scratched out a win at Quetzalcoatl Dome by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Franco went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Sergio Tormes earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0. With the win, Mexico City elevates its record to 2-7.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Mexico City first baseman Wafid Bishr, facing Hughie Dunstone, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Aztecs the 4-3 win.
Bishr called the win "a pick-me-upper."
