Parkinson Stars for Monarchs in 5-3 Win
|
In the 5-3 London win over Athens, the impact of Brad Parkinson was substantial. Parkinson, who finished 5th in the GBC in RBI with 101 in 2053, went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was London reliever Kaden Umair, now 3-5. The loser was Xian Ling. Michihiro Tanaka nailed down his 39th save.
Parkinson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch changeup from Xian Ling, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Monarchs a 5-3 lead. It was the 27th home run of the year for Parkinson.
"The hot tub feels extra good after a solid win," said Parkinson.
The Monarchs go to 78-64, putting them first in the GBC.
