Pilots Deal Pearls 4-3 Loss
|
The Sao Paulo Pilots faced a tough opponent in Tokyo pitcher Markùri Siliqi, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Manama Fields by a final score of 4-3. Siliqi went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. Jason Lee snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits. He's now 3-2 on the season. Iván Ruíz recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 34 for 38.
Sao Paulo used a clutch hit from Kevin Gutiérrez to get the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pilots ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Gutiérrez. "More importantly, I had a good game."
Sao Paulo bumps their record to 70-68 with the win.
