Pearls Dump Buenos Aires, 8-5, to Win 4th in a Row
|
Tokyo and Buenos Aires duked it out and the Pearls came out victorious.
The Tokyo Pearls stopped the Buenos Aires Brisas, 8-5, at Manama Fields. The Pearls got a big game from Ismael Zumaya, who went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5. Filippio Ioriatti was credited with the save for Tokyo, his 16th of the season.
Zumaya had a timely hit for Tokyo in the bottom of the sixth. With Buenos Aires trailing 5-4, he turned a 2-2 changeup into a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season, making it 8-5, Tokyo.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Zumaya told the Tokyo Daily News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
Tokyo's winning streak has reached 4 games.
