Boyd Now 9-12 After Subduing Lumberjacks
|
Ralph Boyd never let the Lumberjacks get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Surfers to a win, 5-1. Owen McKelvey got credit for the save for Long Beach. It was his 19th of the year. Long Beach is now 89-73, Portland 63-99.
The Lumberjacks had trouble solving Boyd, who surrendered no runs on 2 hits over 7.1 innings.
Boyd attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
